Looking for Dental treatment options? Does the price of Dental treatment reach well beyond what your insurance will cover? Do you need dental coverage? If so first look carefully at what your dental insurance is costing you and if you do not have insurance price it out and consider the total annual payout, the cost per month and the co-pay amount per service. By now you may all of the sudden feel like your insurance is not the best deal after all for dental work...Read on!

Have you considered Dental tourism? Give one of the many agencies a call; you might be directed to a great dentist here or abroad. These agencies will help you with every aspect of your trip, appointments, hotel, and billing but if you are like me, you may want to work directly with the best qualified dentist and business to get the personalized care you need completed at a fair cost and cut out the "tourist agency" feel to setting up a dentist appointment.

If I have your attention at this point and you are thinking about traveling to save a fortune in dental care I would like to stop this thought you are having at once. What if you were traveling "first and foremost" because the best quality care, the best service, best value and world class follow up could be found outside of your present city or country. Isn't that more important than cost alone? This is exactly what I found in San Salvador, El Salvador.

In short the Dentists and oral surgeons in the US were recommending work based on cost and insurance coverage's. We saw a couple of professionals here in the states and were given estimates for minimal work and just a ballpark of what doing the work the "best way" would cost. In my opinion there were very obvious judgments being made on what I was able or willing to spend. Why did this happen? This could be because I insisted on legitimate and reasonable fee's which should go directly to the the Dentist/Dr/Clinic taking care of my mouth, not unreasonable fee's subsidizing the legal and insurance business or so Doctors can pay excessive malpractice insurance or build multi-million dollar offices-ever seen one of those? I personally am most interested in professional dental qualifications and a well equipped, modern facility not marble interiors and $250,000 waiting rooms!

After many emails and a conference call directly with my dentist abroad I was convinced based on the substantiating data provided supporting the Dentists treatment plan, that the procedure being recommended in my hometown was substandard for my long term comfort.

Let me tell you about our trip to El Salvador and my Dental experience. I had an experience of a life time! Not only was my trip for my dental care, this was our honey-moon, as we were recently married in October. We contacted the Staff at the Dental clinic in El Salvador directly and made my dental appointments and collected information regarding places to stay, things to see and transportation options while in country from our dentists professional staff. We did have the clinic arrange for a concierge service to aid in our transportation and sight-seeing needs while we were in this country. They set us up with a tour company who took care of all our needs outside of dental care. The owner of this service was always easily reached and at our service day and night with a simple phone call or email from the time we were picked up at the airport to the time we were dropped off to leave.

Let's get back to the service from our dentist abroad. This was our first trip to see our new dentist who is board certified in America with as many or more certifications and qualification than some of your local dental practitioners. My husband and I had checked into a recommended hotel and in less than 2 hours of our arrival a gentlemen holding a large beautiful bouquet of flowers came walking in to the hotel patio where we were sipping our first taste of Salvadorian coffee. I joked with my husband and said; "you shouldn't have" and he said "I didn't". The gentleman then said my name and gave me the flowers. I read the note and it read Welcome to El Salvador it is a pleasure to have you with us and this was signed by the dentist. My husband and I were not only surprised but very touched!

We had our first appointment with our dentist on the day we arrived and he introduced us to his staff and gave us a tour of the clinic which is clean, modern and well equipped. I was very impressed with the language ability of his staff and comfort in the English language. The dentist and I spent time talking about my concerns and the additional work and support for that work which we initially discussed on a conference call in the states. I did not feel rushed to make decisions as the dentist took all the time I needed to answer my questions. All options were explained and medical documentation was available to support these recommendations.

The surgery went well and I experienced no pain during the procedure. I was under IV sedation during the surgery and I was also given antibiotics before, during and after. After the surgery and the Novocain wore off some expected discomfort was felt due to the amount of work and the procedure that I went through but not enough to keep me down for more than a few hours that afternoon!

The evening of my surgery while resting in our hotel the phone rang, to my surprise our dentist was calling to see how I was feeling and if we had any questions or concerns! Has your dentist ever done that? This was just one of than many follow up calls he made to us ensuring our comfort with both the dental work and our stay in El Salvador!

Two days before we left to come home our dentist invited us out to dinner with him and his beautiful wife. Choosing a nice Italian restaurant we all had a great conversation about the dental care I had received, his practice in the states and his return to his home country to El Salvador. I was very pleased by how much he cares and that he won't give anything less but his very best!

I want to touch on the safety in El Salvador. My husband and I felt very safe where ever we walked, shopped or dined. If you read up on the Civil war and history of what this country went through 12 years ago, it is sad however at this point El Salvador is modernizing and doing just great rebuilding and making the past battle ground safe and beautiful.

We toured the city on our own. We think we left our foot-prints in El Salvador. We had our concierge take us on a city tour shopping at the markets downtown, going to the museums, checking out the volcano overlooks and of course out to eat at some awesome restaurants! Another trip we took was up to the beautiful San Salvador volcano and what a breath taking site this was! My husband, who will not pass up a fitness challenge, went back up the next day to climb down into the crater. There is no way I was going to attempt this so I accepted a day trip out with my dentists wife who took me shopping and to get a pedicure while my crazy husband was exploring the inside of a volcano!

Not only was the dental experience at this dental clinic World-Class but also the hospitality and kindness I will never forget as long as I live. We are planning on going back in June to have some follow up work done but also to make more memories that will last a life time!

I cannot begin to thank this dentist enough for his exceptional dental care and hospitality and I can only hope others find can see there are exceptional, proffessional and safe options to high costly dental work which bypass the insurance and legal barriors that are driving prices up at home.

When we talk about employee-related smoking, one of the first things we need to consider is performance-related costs.

Frequent smoke breaks are a major issue when it comes to employee performance and productivity. Employees who leave their desks several times throughout the day to take smoking breaks are clearly less productive than those who do not. Smokers are also absent from work considerably more than non-smokers. This becomes a major issue when employers have salaried employees who smoke.

Medical-related costs

Annual health care costs for smokers are 31 percent higher on average than the costs for non-smokers. A recent study from the American Cancer Society revealed that smokers had more hospital admissions per 1,000 (124 vs.76), had a longer average length of stay (6.47 vs. 5.03 days) and made six more visits to health care facilities per-year when compared to non-smokers (2).

Smokers add approximately seven percent to the total cost of healthcare for group health plan beneficiaries (2). Both employers and non-smoking employees absorb these added costs in the form of higher premiums.

What companies are doing: Companies throughout the United States are addressing this issue in several different ways.

It is not surprising that many a times people decide to travel across half the globe for their dental treatments. Dental problems are not trivial enough to be ignored, but their treatment is too taxing on the pockets. While the rich can afford to find better options and get their treatment done at reasonable costs, there are many among us who find this too difficult to plan for.

For the benefit of people who find it way above reach, there are many free dental programs that are conducted by many hospitals and companies. Here are certain methods you can try to find out about them:

Method 1: Local Health Department

You local health department is well aware of all such welfare programs. The first and most obvious step for any emergency dental treatment could be handled by first calling them up to know if there are any free dental treatment camps being organized in the vicinity.

Method 2: Approach an Institution

Talk to a resource person from the institution you know organizes such free treatment camps. They may be able to guide you on how best you can reach out for help. They could even guide you when their next camp is to be organized so you can make it at the right time.

Method 3: Reach Through Internet

There is almost no information that cannot be found through the help of Internet. Get hooked to the net and search for the nearest location of free dental treatment. Do not forget to call up and confirm before you go for a visit since information on the Internet could sometimes be outdated or wrong.

Method 4: Trust Your Network

You must be having a network of friends and relatives. Call them up and find out from them if they have had any free dental treatment in the recent past and where. This way, you will be sure that the place you step into for treatment is trustworthy too.

Method 5: Lookout for Promotional Offers

There are many new businesses starting each day and the best method they opt for their publicity is by offering promotional offers. Search if there are any such promotional offers from a dental clinic that will help you get a free dental treatment. Remember that your aim is to find relief from your dental problem and this is no time to be shy to seek help.

Myelophthisic anemia is an anemic condition caused by damage which is done to the tissue of the bone marrow when it is invaded by certain types of infections and cancers. This causes abnormal tissue to be formed which prevents a sufficient amount of red blood cells and platelets from being produced by the bone marrow.

The white blood cell count may remain normal or can increase. When the level of red blood cells and platelets are low, this results in low oxygen levels within the body and abnormal bleeding can occur.

Symptoms and Diagnosis of Myelophthisic Anemia

Symptoms which may suggest the presence of myelophthisic anemia include tiredness, fatigue, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, chest pain, and shortness of breath. These symptoms may also be accompanied by a fever indicating an infection. During a physical examination the physician will look at the skin and fingernails for paleness in color, bruising or bleeding under the skin as well as a rapid heartbeat or "tachycardia".

A blood test will be ordered and if an anemic condition is present this will show with a significantly low number of red blood cells and platelets. These cells-including the white blood cells-will then be examined microscopically to determine if their shape and size matches the characteristics of cells found in myelophthisic anemia. Further testing may then be done with a microscopic examination of the bone tissue to determine what condition is causing this tissue to be damaged.

Treatment of Myelophthisic Anemia

Treatment for this type of anemia is primarily focused on what has caused this condition. In cases of the tissue being damaged by infections such as a fungus or tuberculosis, the anemia typically disappears on its own once the underlying condition is treated. If the anemia is caused by a type of cancer, blood transfusions may be necessary to elevate the blood levels during treatments such as radiation and chemotherapy. In some cases of myelophthisic anemia, the spleen becomes enlarged and may have to be surgically removed.

For centuries, people have used herbs for cooking. So making use of them as medicines also make sense. They can even be a better option than using synthetic drugs in some cases. Even before the advent of Western medicine, herbs have been there. They have been resorted to for treatment and curative purposes. In cases of an allergy, herbal cure can be effective, and is less likely to cause debilitating side effects, unlike some conventional medications do. For a wholesome choice of allergy relief, herbal remedies may be the answer. Herbal allergy relief can in fact do more. With this measure, not only will the symptoms be treated, but it's possible that the condition itself will be remedied.

With herb treatments, allergy relief may be the desired end, but there are also positive chances for allergy elimination itself. Herbal remedies are not only useful for treating diseases. They are capable of boosting general health as well. So in the long run, a disease may be cured or prevented. There are herbal antihistamines, decongestants and expectorants and the like. They could not only serve to alleviate allergic symptoms, but they can preempt reaction. More so, they can promote allergy elimination itself. Herbal allergy relief may not work as quickly as conventional treatments, but they are safer. When used properly, their effects can last longer, too.

Those suffering from allergies can have their immune system boosted and their other organs fortified. With herbal allergy relief, the body is aided on making itself well. Herbal allergy relief can come in the form of teas and capsules. For those with skin allergic reactions, oils and salves can be used for external application. There are those who find natural means for dealing with allergies more preferable than the usual methods. This may be the case for some, but a professional's guidance is still needed when one wants to resort to an herbal program. This program could be effective, but there are cases when medical attention is required.

Examples are cases of an anaphylactic shock wherein quick treatment has to be applied. One also has to be careful in taking herbs alongside with other drugs. This might cause some negative interactions which can be detrimental. A prerequisite for the use of herbs is to be well-informed. That way, one can use them to the optimum and gain the best of its benefits. This holds true not only for natural and herb remedies, but for synthetic drugs as well. After all, they are taken into the body and are meant to make the body well and better. It always entails being cautious when living with a disease or condition, more so with allergy.

Others may regard so, but this condition is not to be taken lightly. When neglected and becomes severe, it can instigate harm on the internal organs. For allergies and some other conditions, herb remedies may suffice. They can be effective in relieving allergic symptoms and in the long run offer a cure. In some cases, though, conventional treatments need to be applied, especially in cases of an emergency.

Pernicious anemia is a condition that results when the body cannot absorb enough vitamin B12. In this particular condition, cells that line the stomach have lost the ability to produce enough of a substance called Intrinsic Factor. Why is this important? Because Intrinsic Factor must first combine with B12 to form a B12-Intrinsic Factor complex so that the digestive system can absorb it.

We know that vitamin B12, also known as cobalamin, plays an important role in several processes: it helps make red blood cells, supports nerve cell function, and even helps build DNA. When the body's immune system malfunctions and begins attacking the cells in the stomach that make intrinsic factor, the decrease in intrinsic factor production greatly affects B12 absorption, for the worse.

Pernicious anemia is also known in medical circles as megaloblastic anemia. The term megaloblastic describes the large, immature red blood cells that are seen in people with this condition, which is more common in persons of northern European descent. Often the terms pernicious anemia and B12 deficiency are used interchangeably, but it is important to note that pernicious anemia refers only to the B12 deficiency that happens when there is an absence of intrinsic factor.

What are the symptoms of pernicious anemia?

Weakness Fatigue Numbness tingling of hands and feet Difficulty walking Decreased appetite Weight loss Nausea Tender, smooth tongue Diarrhea Irritability Increased heart rate
Why is it important to supplement B12?

Even though the red blood cell abnormalities can be improved to normal by supplementing vitamin B12, if too much time passes before the pernicious anemia is detected, the neuropathy (nerve damage) that causes numbness and tingling can become permanent. Usually pernicious anemia is found through a routine check up and a blood test (CBC, or cell blood count) at the doctor's office. Persons most at risk of developing it are the elderly; strict vegetarians who don't supplement B12; and pregnant women.

An important note is that breastfed babies of vegetarian moms can easily develop vitamin B12 deficiency by age 4 to 6 months because their liver reserves--which are normally plentiful--are limited and can be depleted quickly due to their rapid growth rate, (which results in a high demand for B12). One last thing to remember is that folate supplementation should not be taken alone instead of vitamin B12 because folate may indeed alleviate the anemia but allow the neurologic (nerve) deficits to progress or even accelerate. For this reason, both B12 and folate should be supplemented together.

Can women battle emotional anxiety and stress the natural way? Though medical advancements happen by the minute, many people have chosen to go natural when it comes to physical and emotional healing. In line with ancient practices that go back thousands of years, the modern use of herbs and natural products has deemed effective even to this date.

There are actually herbs and home remedies that can improve women's health, whether it is for the body or for the mind. Even various health supplements today contain ingredients derived from nature. Using herbs for certain health issues can be more cost-effective and can provide a more holistic effect, as compared to using conventional methods.

And yes, herbs can be used by women to reduce anxiety, relieve stress, and promote overall well-being. Whether it is with a hot cup of herbal tea, a soothing homemade face mask, or a relaxing massage with essential oils, women can fight stress by going natural.

Why should women be "de-stressed" instead of distressed?

A 2009 study by the University of California Berkeley found that high levels of stress can lead to reproductive problems and even infertility - health risks that include both women and men. When the body is stressed, there is an increase in cortisol in the blood, which in turn inhibits the release of sex hormones that are vital to maintaining reproductive health. These results were on experimental rats, and further studies are being done to investigate other effects.

As said before, the traditional use of herbs by people such as the Chinese, Indians, and Native Americans, goes back centuries, evidence that their therapeutic claims can be proven as true. At present, modern knowledge has refined the science of herbal medicine, making it more understandable and practical for use even in households across the globe.

What kinds of herbs can help fight stress and promote reproductive health for women? Here are some of them with their traditional uses and their perceived effects:

Valerian - During the menstrual cycle, it eases uterine contractions and helps get rid of cramps. The roots are used to relieve stress by promoting sleep and relaxation. A Japanese investigation published in Chemical Senses (2006) showed that inhalation of Valerian extracts can enhance restful sleep.

St. John's Wort - It can help alleviate depression as well as anxiety. According to the British Journal of Psychiatry (BJP) in 2006, this herb has been widely used for as an anti-depression aid for patients with mild cases. Extracts of this plant are sold in tablets and even as ingredients in teas.

Passionflower - Extracts of this plant can ease insomnia and anxiety. The BJP also investigated it as a mild sedative, thanks to a compound known as chrysin. Other sources claim that the leaves of some species can be dried, smoked, used as painkillers or cures for hysteria.

Prunella - It can fight infection, improve circulation, as well as safeguard the health of the heart and liver. Recently, the Journal of Biology and Reproduction (2009) found that extracts of Prunella can regulate levels of estrogen in mice. Findings suggest that there may be an application in terms of treating endometriosis, breast cancer, and even uterine cancer.

Licorice root - This herb can improve fertility as well as provide support for the female reproductive system during menstruation. A University of Pittsburgh study in 2005 reported that licorice root can increase levels of estrogen in the blood.

What do the experts say about using herbal remedies?

The use of complementary and alternative medicine is a scientifically recognized field, with research continuously ongoing to find more solutions to pressing medical issues of the present. However, it is not safe to generalize that herbs will eradicate diseases, or to claim that herbs will work perfectly without complications.

The American Cancer Society reviewed in a 2005 publication the use of herbs for relieving symptoms related to anxiety, depression, and stress. Its researchers representing the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York explain that though herbal treatments have known positive effects, patients and doctors should be careful about administering them.

They say that herbs can work adversely when combined with current medications and therapies, including chemotherapy and radiation. The best solution is to be familiar with such alternative treatments, and be well-informed about their effects, whether positive or otherwise.

Are you frustrated because of heartburn? Are you trying to find effective treatment for this condition? Then you are going the right way. It is a burning sensation that happens from the throat to the stomach. It is caused due the stomach acid rising from the stomach through the esophagus.

So what are the different types of medicines for heartburn?

The doctors will usually prescribe antacids. They provide instant relief from this problem but can be damaging to your health if taken for longer time periods. There are also newer types of medicine that uses foaming agent to form a sort of blockade that prevents the acid from entering the esophagus.

Anti-acids do not eradicate the heartburn completely, as a matter of fact they only reduce some of the symptoms caused by this disease. Basically what these medications do is to stop the acid from making way into the esophagus or reduce its production. Therefore, it is best to visit a doctor before taking these kinds of medicines. The long term intake of these treatments can result in side effects like kidney stones, diarrhea or constipation. Therefore, it is better to use the natural medicines for heartburn that do not have side effects.

Exercises and yoga are good long term alternative. A brisk walk after eating helps the process of digestion. Avoid soft drinks, sodas and alcohol because they contain acid and can cause additional damage. Also try not to go to sleep immediately after meal, give your stomach time to digest food.

Milk is an acid diffuser and therefore should be regularly included in the diet.

Ice cream can also be used as instant relief, eating ginger and rhubarb can also provide an effective relief.

Yoghurt is packed with good bacteria which help speed up the digestion and should be consumed regularly.

There are pros and cons to an irregular menstrual cycle. For one, the absence of ovulation for a few months up to a year becomes an inherent form of birth control. But then again in the upkeep of female reproductive health, any instance of failed menstruation in women-called Amenorrhea in the medical jargon-should be treated accordingly, not just for pro-creative ends but also in the purpose of sustaining general female health. Amenorrhea affects around 1% of women in their reproductive age and while the condition is a major cause for infertility, prolonged amenorrhea could trigger the irregular thickening of the uterus lining that sets the stage for endometrial cancer.

Doctors usually prescribe the intake of contraceptives to regularize menstruation. True enough, birth control pills work to induce menstruation but the side effects of binge eating, sluggishness, mood disorders and weight gain often persuade many to discontinue its use. Moreover, critics maintain that while contraceptives do promote monthly bleeding, this does not actually qualify as menstruation. So that leaves affected women with two options. One would be to dabble with the risks of hormone treatments and fertility medications or perhaps take the alternative route and use herbal supplements to restore reproductive health.

A number of herbal remedies have been widely administered since the ancient times to enhance sexual functioning and treat infertility. To this day, the potency of these natural remedies has not lost its efficacy despite the influx of its pharmaceutical counterparts.

Chaste Berry is a widely accepted herbal remedy that stimulates the release of LH and FSH or the hormones vital to ovulation and menstruation. Another herb that enhances hormone functioning is Black Cohosh, a natural remedy prescribed by herbalists to prevent miscarriage. Regulating the menstrual cycle on the other hand is among the many medicinal properties of the Siberian Ginseng, a revered Chinese tonic that promotes energy and enhances overall systemic functioning.

Using the extracts of traditional fertility herbal remedies that are expertly combined in a therapeutic solution of primary and support herbs, modern day herbalists have concocted fertility herbal supplements intended to treat various sexual disorders ranging from the loss of libido, hormonal imbalance as well as failed ovulation leading to amenorrhea. Now these treatments won't trigger the side effects typical with contraceptives nor cause multiple births in case continued herbal supplement use concludes with a successful pregnancy.

Get natural remedies for amenorrhea today! Not just for the sake of regulating menstruation but to guarantee a woman's overall reproductive health as well.

What is anemia?

Anemia is a common blood disorder characterized by a deficit of healthy red blood cells. Red blood cells distribute oxygen to every organ in the body, so a decreased number of red cells means the body must work harder to accomplish even simple tasks. As a result, the affected individual experiences constant exhaustion -- one of the most common symptoms of anemia.

What causes anemia?

Various factors combine to trigger common anemia: iron deficiency, blood loss, parasites, and insufficient hydrochloric acid in the stomach. .

Another unique form of anemia called "sickle cell" results from a genetic disorder which causes a patient's body to produce sickle-shaped red blood cells rather than normal spherical ones. The sickle-shaped cells carry less oxygen and cause sufferers to become anemic.

What are the symptoms?

Some of the most common symptoms of anemia are lethargy, exhaustion, and persistent lack of energy. Noticeable side effects of the condition include breathlessness, premature wrinkling, dull eyes, headache, and pale skin.

Severely anemic individuals may also experience frequent heart palpitations, and are at increased risk for mild, moderate, or severe cardiac problems.

Are there cures found in nature?

Yes! Anemia can be effectively treated using natural ingredients to improve the oxygen carrying capacity of blood. Most of the remedies utilize common ingredients, too.

Green Vegetables

Most green vegetables such as spinach, fenugreek, lettuce and okra are rich sources of iron. The regular consumption of these vegetables ensures a steady supply of iron in the body. Fenugreek seeds are also a rich source of iron. In addition to the healthful benefits of beet and carrot juice which boost the body's hemoglobin production, other natural treatments include:

SESAME SEEDS mixed with milk are a great source of iron. Simply soak a teaspoonful of sesame seeds in lukewarm water, then grind and strain them, sweeten with honey or sugar and mix in a glass of milk.

ALMONDS contain many beneficial elements for anemia sufferers too, including iron, copper and vitamins. To maximize the benefits of almonds, soak seven almonds in water overnight. Remove the skin and grind the almonds into a paste which should be consumed every morning.

CHAMOMILE, ORANGE PEEL, GINGER, AND BRANDY TEA helps cope with the effects of anemia , too. To mix it in your kitchen combine two tablespoons of chamomile, two tablespoons of ground orange peel, and half of a teaspoon of ground ginger in two cups of boiling water. Allow the mixture to cool. Strain and add one cup of brandy. Consume one half of a cup of this blend every morning and evening.
